30 Pieces of Silver... Part II

There is so much to share with you about what came out of Immerse that I have been holding off on sharing it until I have had a chance to process it myself. Over the next few weeks, I will endeavour to put my thoughts and reflections into words. To start with , let me give you a quick update on the previous post…

Thirty Pieces of Silver… Part II

The story of how I got hold of the ‘silver coins’ really humbles me. I am still amazed at how God pulled all that together. But it is the stories that come out of what the coins were used for that really gets my attention. So many people at Immerse were impacted in some way when they encountered this part of God’s Story. Basically, the coins were a part of one of our ‘participation’ experiences. Immerse participants were invited to hold a few coins in their hand and contemplate what it meant for Judas to betray Jesus into the hands of the authorities. One of the comments that I heard over and over as we talked about that experience was this… “How much less have I betrayed Jesus for...”

When you stop to think about it, 30 pieces of silver was not that much, maybe about a months wages. Judas betrayed his teacher and friend for a months wages. Now I don’t know what you earn in a month… but think about it!

Now think about what it cost God to restore the relationship between you and Him.
